Noise Induced Hearing Loss

Noise Induced Hearing Loss (also known as NIHL) is a very serious condition that is associated with noise in the workplace. This condition unfortunately has no cures and is a permanent condition that results in the loss of hearing and can often cause complications later in life. Sound and noise is a part of every day life and although many sounds do not cause concern, other in places that you may spend long periods of time, such as your workplace, can become a problem.

As each day passes we experience sound all around us in the environment. Normally we hear these sounds at an acceptable level such as the television or radio and this will not affect our hearing. However, when we become exposed to loud noises it becomes harmful to us and sensitive structures in our ear can often become damaged resulting in the condition. Harmful noise is often associated with the workplace where heavy duty machinery is used and the effects that this has on your body is the determining cause of noise induced hearing loss.
